Arwind Santos saved the day for the San Miguel Beermen as his putback with just 0.6 of a second left helped them ward off the gutsy Barako Bull Energy, 106-105, in the SMART BRO PBA Philippine Cup Sunday at Ynares Center in Antipolo.

Down by one with just 10 seconds left, Santos got the offensive board off a miss by teammate Marcio Lassiter. “The Spiderman” then scored a follow-up shot through traffic to win the game for the Beermen.

The Energy still had less than a second left to snatch the game back, but RR Garcia’s heave from downtown didn’t even hit the rim.

Reigning back-to-back PBA MVP June Mar Fajardo put up a monster outing of 28 points and 20 rebounds to lead the Beermen (5-1), who seized the solo top spot in the team standings.

Urbiztondo scored 19 points, while Wilson made 18 markers and 11 boards to lead Barako Bull (3-3) that lost for the first time after winning two straight games.

June Mar Fajardo (SMB) - 28pts, 20rebs, 2asts, 2blks, 11/17 FGs.

BGY. GINEBRA GIN KINGS over MAHINDRA ENFORCERS, 80-76
Box scores.

Barangay Ginebra San Miguel finally built a winning streak after a long while as they turned back the Mahindra Enforcers, 80-76, in the SMART BRO PBA Philippine Cup Sunday evening at the Ynares Center in Antipolo.

Greg Slaughter didn’t have his usual numbers as he posted 16 points and eight boards in this one. But his showing was still enough for Ginebra (3-3) to move to the .500 mark.

Gregzilla got enough support from fellow frontliners Joe Devance (14 points), Japeth Aguilar (12), and newcomer Jervy Cruz (10) as they had to hurdle a tough stand by Mahindra in the game.

Fil-Am Karl Dehesa came up with 17 markers to pace the Enforcers (1-5) who dropped their fourth straight game.

Lines of the Game:
Greg Slaughter (GIN) - 16pts, 8rebs, 2asts.
Aldrech Ramos (MAH) - 13pts, 11rebs, 3asts, 1stl, 1blk.

Coach Chito Victolero continues to have hard luck in the PBA.
