#PBA2015 Govs Cup Roundup: May 21-22, 2015

The 2015 PBA Governors’ Cup visited Dubai these past couple of days and treated UAE-based hoop nuts to great basketball action. The Painters drubbed GlobalPort in the first game of their back-to-back, but they dropped their second assignment opposite Ginebra.

The Rain or Shine Elasto Painters registered their first win of the tournament after a 119-112 victory over GlobalPort Batang Pier in the first leg of the PBA Governors’ Cup Dubai tour Thursday (early Friday Philippine time) at the Al Shabab Club in United Arab Emirates. Import Wendell McKines posted 28 points and JR Quiñahan added 24 markers to help the Elasto Painters (1-2) arrest a two-game skid to start their campaign. Rain or Shine was able to weather Terrence Romeo’s impressive night of 40 points, nine rebounds, three assists and three steals that wowed the Filipino crowd. Playing in his first game for GlobalPort, import Jarrid Famous had 26 points, while his Asian counterpart Omar Krayem chipped in 24 points. Rain or Shine will try to notch another win on Friday as they take on Barangay Ginebra San Miguel in the last leg of the Dubai tour.

Barangay Ginebra San Miguel treated its overseas fans to an impressive showing after a 93-81 victory over Commissioner’s Cup runner-up Rain or Shine on Friday night in Dubai, UAE. Orlando Johnson led the way with 25 points, but the Kings’ local performers also had the chance to show their stuff in this one.  Mark Caguioa scored 21 – 16 of those in a sizzling hot first quarter – while LA Tenorio had a nice all-around line of 20 points, 11 rebounds, and four assists. Japeth Aguilar, playing his first game of the conference, had 15 points and 10 boards while leading the team’s charge in the fourth period. On the other end, Wendell Mckines led the Painters with 35 markers and 14 boards.
