Lamar is LA’s Best & the White Chocolate

LA’s best off the pine that is. Finally, OFFICIALLY, Lamar Odom is the 2010-2011 Kia Sixth Man of the Year.

At 31 years old, and after two NBA titles, you’d think someone like Odom would simply coast along, but he finally nailed the 6th man plum this year after averaging nearly 15 points, 9 boards and 3 dimes an outing. Oh, he also shot a blistering 53 percent from the field, the highest of his career. Props to you Mr. Dash.

Good for Odom, but bad for LA? The last 6th man of the year to win an NBA title in the same year was Toni Kukoc back in 1996, 15 years ago. And before him? Bill Walton in 1986. It could be the curse of the best man off the bench. But I’m sure Kobe has something to say about that. Here are some of Odom’s best plays from this season:

Jason Williams (not the who played for the Nets, and not the one from Duke) has retired. Again. The guy known for the elbow pass to Raef Lafrentz  in the 2000 Rookie Challenge, which Lafrentz muffed, is riding into the sunset. Good bye White Chocolate! You’re the NBA’s version of Eminem I guess. Oh, but your passes are still sick, and you did get one ring with Miami so good for you! (J-Will's sick elbow pass after the image!)
